Mercury Cars is an automobile manufacturer which was found by Edsel Ford in the year 1939. It is a division of Ford Motor Company and domestic car manufacturer and has a good reputation in the market for manufacturing vehicles with special features and unique styling details. In 1930, Henry Ford’s son Edsel Ford saw an opportunity to create another brand called Mercury within Ford hierarchy that can manufacture vehicles between premium Lincoln Zephyrs and Ford Deluxes. He decided to create Mercury brand who can manufacture vehicles with distinctive styling, better capabilities and innovative features. The first car manufactured and launched by Mercury was Mercury Eight that featured a brawny powerful engine which was good for producing 95 horsepower; 10HP as compared to V8 engines of Ford. It proved to be a successful model in 1940s, but its production stopped during Second World War.
After World War II, Mercury Cars realigned with Lincoln and grew strength to strength in 1950s by manufacturing vehicles with cutting edge technology, distinctive style and powerful performance. In 1960s, Mercury launched two more models called Meteor and Comet. The Meteor was basically a midsize family car which followed the trend of reasonably sized cars, while the Comet was equipped with luxury accoutrements and diminutive dimensions. By the end of decade, company launched another model called Cougar which was variation of Ford Mustang. In 1990s, Mercury involved in manufacturing sport utility vehicles and minivans and their first production of vehicles were Mountaineer SUV and Villager minivan.

Mercury Cougar was introduced in the year 1999 and manufactured till 2002 as small sedan with European breeding. The Cougar has a sharp edge styling that gives a sparkling on-road personality. It is an entry level sport coupe that comes with head tuning exterior styling, accurate handling and brawny 2.5 liter V6 engine with four-speed automatic transmission or five-speed manual transmission. The inside is quite luxurious with comfortable seats. The V6 engine is good for producing 170 horsepower which is not that powerful as compared to other rivals in the market. The outward visibility is also very poor and it is can’t be one of the favorite coupes of customers.
Mercury Cougar comes with features like hood scoop, chrome wheels and in-dash CD changer with special packages which includes XR, Zn and C2.
